"Where
have our morals gone when we place more importance
on hedonistic pleasure than an individual's
right to privacy?"

Voyeurism
in our backyard?

What a shock to come home and see these men
watching you, especially for three women.

Photos are from a phone camera. Wish I had
a regular camera to see who they were.

Tuesday,
19 July 2005 What a shocking
surprise to walk into your back yard and see two
men peering high above the fence at you from the
new Carmike Theatre. They didn't move out of courtesy
but rather continued to stand on the platform veering
over our yard smoking their cigarettes. This is
quite unsettling and we feel an infringement of
our right to privacy.
My
wife and children had just become victims on our
own property. It appeared to be time for a smoke
break and our privacy became non-existent. When
do the rights of others to be entertained overrule
your rights to simple privacy? These stairs are
meant to be an emergency exit and not a place for
two men to get high on nicotine and watch my two
little girls play in their yard after watching who
knows what at the theatre. I would hate to think
this is the beginning of voyeuristic tendencies.
We
were told earlier by the developer Mr. Roy Drinkard
that we had nothing to worry about, that the Carmike
Theatre would be good neighbors. This cannot be
considered to be very neighborly. Use the stairs
for that which they are intended and not a momentary
escape for a drug and visual fix.
Thank
goodness for PicPhones in securing accountability
for this action.
