"Just dust in the wind. That is what they said in Oklahoma when the last tree was cut in the western area before the big dust bowl."

. . . But not in my Backyard

Dusted . . . again

Tuesday, 22 February 2005  With the dust flying with the wind, cleaning up the road was easy work. All you had to do was make sure the dust went in the direction of the wind and it mysteriously disappeared quickly into the air. With complete disregard to those living in the area, the worker kept right on throwing the dust into the neighborhood making sure the area around him began to look better all the while the dust began settling on the homes and vehicles in the surrounding area. This is the type of mentality we have grown to expect from those who are building right up against our property line.

dust a flying.   In the photograph to the right you can see the dust being swept from the pavement right into the air instead of being pushed into a pile and and disposing of it properly. I couldn't figure out what the pickup was doing there except that he was getting in the way. Just when you think you've seen the last of the filth from the air, here comes another cloud of dust and garbage of all types landing in your yard. We had our fight with dust a while back and everything outside as well as inside was covered in varying depths of the monotone colored health hazard. Just hit us again Mr. Drinkard. You know we can take it.

The culprit in action after most of the area had been sent into the briskly moving air.   Why should this type of behavior come as a shock at this point? I am always hoping there will be some inkling of humanity in these workers and the developer to show some compasion for those in the surrounding area. Seeing this type of attitude however, has only reaffirmed that we are to continue to take the stand we have previously chosen. Why do people in general excuse this from construction but not from our neighbors? Why do we take this from an old man who says he is treating us like his neighbor?
