There's got to
be one place in this town where people can
go without crawling to Potter.

. . . But not in my Backyard
Thursday,
22 July 2004 - Once again the heavy
equipment was stirring up dust before 6:15a with
a dump truck pulling up right behind our fence.
One driver decided it was a good place to clean
the dirt out by raising the front of the container
and dropping it quickly slamming the steel rear
door to shake up the packed dirt inside. You
could hear the
echo from
all
over.
We have been told before by Rick Fulmer of the
City of Cullman that the noise
ordinance is vague
but 7:00a to 10:00p is pretty well the acceptable
time period when noise is permissible. We were
also told that this doesn't apply to construction
work. Noise is noise regardless whether it
comes from a dump truck or a loud stereo in a
Honda Civic.
 |
|
Dust is still spreading
across us.
|
Appears
that the dirt is now being relocated to another
site and the trucks are traveling without the
cover
required to prevent spillage onto passersby.
There are so many violations with this construction,
yet it is unashamedly overlooked and excused.
 |
All the trucks we saw
taking dirt to the other site were running
uncovered.
This one was heading south to Phelan
to dump his load.
|
 |
This
truck is entering highway 31 from Olive
Street.
Uncovered with dirt showing at the top.
|
Now,
since this morning there has been placed a sign
with "No
Trespassing" on our property line.
Sounds
like we've grabbed someone's attention. What are
they going to try next?
Vehicles
were at work once again before 6:15a despite
a call to the mayor yesterday.
By
the way, our house is for
sale if you know
of anyone interested in a 4/5 bedroom house
with a view and convience to local
stores.
